GOLDEN MILK

3 C unsweetened almond milk

1 1/2 t fresh, peeled micro planed (or ground)

1/2 T ginger root peeled, micro planed (or 1/4 t powdered)

1 cinnamon stick cut in half lengthwise or 1/4 t ground ceylon cinnamon

a couple turns black pepper (+- for spiciness)

1 t local honey or pure maple (+- for sweetness)

optional additions cardamom, nutmeg, vanilla bean

Add all ingredients but cinnamon stick to a pot & whisk vigorously to combine. Add the cinnamon stick & simmer to warm about 5-8 minutes to 105F. For a frothy version, use immersion blender or add cool to a high speed blender before dividing between cups. Enjoy!

Curcumin is also fat soluble, which is why we add a little coconut milk or almond milk to this warming cup. The Gingerol in ginger has powerful medicinal properties, encouraging motility and digestion and also having powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
